    Keeping Focus

    Bearden Athletes & Parents,

I hope everyone is safe and warm during this winter storm. The first couple snow days are fun but I know what it feels like when you're cooped up in the same place for multiple days. That being said I wanted to reach out and talk about staying focused as we get closer to City Meet.

Important tasks while away from the Pool:

Hydration: Make sure to drink plenty of water each day. The average amount of water consumed each day is 64 ounces (not all at once haha).

Stretching: use the stretching drills we do in dryland practice each day to stay loose. We should be targeting our hamstrings, quads, lats, lower back, shoulders, and arms.

Stretching exercises: monster walk, lunges, side to side lunges, open leg, close leg…

Exercising: keep up with cardio and core exercises while being away from the Pool. Additional exercises can be helpful.

Normal dryland exercises: jumping jacks, squats, push ups, burpees, jumping lunges, flutter kicks, sit ups, crunches, bicycles, planks, Russian twists, leg lifts…

Visualization: it's important to convert exciting and nervous energy into successful visualization of your goals. Break down your events and think about how you will be successful in executing a good start, stoke, turn, and finish.

If y’all need any help please feel free to reach out!

We plan to resume the normal practice schedule on Monday. Remember it's not just our team going through this tough time so take the time to gain the advantage. Y’all can accomplish anything you set your mind to as long as you believe in yourself. It’s a champion mindset that I know y’all have.

    Go Dawgs!
